Umbrella update: Manufcaturing errors found

The following information was also emailed to all customers who pre-ordered:

Hi everyone

Thank you so much for waiting for your umbrella pre-order, however I have some devastating news to share. After receiving the umbrella shipment, we carefully inspected them and were shocked to discover major defects. 

In short, due to a manufacturing error, the umbrellas have a flaw at the top which allows water to leak to the inside of the umbrella and down the handle when it’s raining.

I have tried to work this out with the supplier, but we haven’t come to a resolution and I’m not sure how long it will take to make new ones.

So while the umbrellas can still be used as parasols/UV umbrellas, they don’t meet our standards since they should also be usable for rain. Therefore, we cannot fulfill the pre-orders as planned.

So… what happens now?

There are a few options available:

1. If you would still like the umbrella to use as a parasol, we can still send it with a 50% discount off of the pre-order price. US customers will also receive a partial refund for excess duties.

2. If your order contained other items, but you no longer want the umbrella, we can remove it from your order and send everything else.

3. If you no longer want the umbrella, you can cancel the order and we will issue a full refund.

Please (email Birdie via our contact form with your Order Number about) how you’d like to proceed. If we don’t receive a reply from you by March 16, we will treat it as a cancellation and issue a full refund.

This has been a really shocking and disappointing outcome for the umbrellas since I was so excited about them. I hope we can still make it happen, but now is unfortunately not this time.
